Kids Policy

At Ampersand we beleive in creating a safe and family-friendly environment for all our members. If you choose to bring your children with you to group classes we would like to remind you of our guidelines.

Children are not allowed on the main gym floor during our group classes (No Exceptions) This includes the warm-up, the WOD, and any post-WOD work. Children must stay in their specified area, which for now will include the couch area and under the stairs.

The stairs and office are off-limits. They may go in the backroom to use the restroom but may not stay back there otherwise (as members store their things back there). We have a fold up gate that you may put up to keep younger children from escaping the kids area. Feel free to bring in books, video games, ipads, coloring supplies, puzzles, etc. for your children to use in the kids area while you are working out.

Children should not be a distraction to other members during class. This includes screaming, yelling, whining, playing music or games too loudly. It can be easy to ignore these kinds of behaviors from your own child, but it’s much harder for other members. Please help everyone have a good workout and pleasant class by addressing this kind of distraction immediately.

All gym equipment is off limits to children at all times. This includes the pull-up rig, rings, ropes, jump ropes, boxes, rowers, dowels, foam rollers, barbells, kettle bells.

Please help us keep the gym tidy. Just like we ask of you, please make sure you or your child has cleaned up after themselves before you leave the gym.

It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure that their children are following these guidelines. If you see your child doing something they shouldn’t, we ask that you pause your WOD and address it immediately. Please try to do this in a way that is not disruptive to the rest of the class.

Coaches need to be focused on running the class and ensuring the safety & enjoyment of our members. A coach cannot be the one to address your child. However, if your child has become a distraction and you have not addressed them, your coach has the right to ask you to stop your workout and address your child, or to take your child home.

If your child is sick, please do not bring them into the gym! As sickness spreads easily in this type of environment. If they wouldn’t be allowed at school/day care, the gym would not be an appropriate place either. If they are “kinda sick,” they are SICK.

Please have a conversation with your children before coming to class so that they understand what is expected of them. We love having families come to the gym together, and are looking out for the safety and enjoyment of all members.
